Spring has sprung! Garden Wisely with Acupuncture!
It seems like only yesterday we were enduring the chill of winter. Now, warmth and sunshine are here to stay for the coming months, ushering in the vibrant bloom of new life! Many of us are excitedly preparing our gardens for the season. However, the joy of gardening can often be overshadowed by discomfort in the knees and lower back, typically caused by long hours of bending, lifting, and kneeling. Consider this your friendly reminder to garden wisely!
Employ proper body mechanics: Stretch before doing any heavy outdoor work, keep your back straight, and bend at the knees while lifting.
Variety is the spice of life: Switch up the gardening tasks that you are completing in order to avoid repetitive motion strain. If you have been kneeling for a long period of time, be sure to get up and take a walk to water some plants!
Stay hydrated: Not only has it been wickedly hot this early in the season, but under-hydrating also contributes to muscle stiffness and potential cramping.
Remember that we are here! Acupuncture is a wonderful treatment option for those who already suffer from underlying low back and knee pains, but don’t want to forego time in nature. Click the link below to schedule your appointment today!
